Our group and individual school workshops, available September through October 2024, consist of:
- Performances by the Choro in Schola choir and participating high school choirs
- On-stage workshop, where Choro in Schola singers join your students, supporting their overall sound and mentoring section leaders
- Sectionals, where all the sopranos, altos, tenors, and basses from each participating school come together for voice building or repertoire exercises

Choral FX Festival
Join us on February 20, 2024 at First United Methodist Church of Portland!
Eighty of the area’s finest high school singers, drawn from schools all over the Metro area, will join the professional choir Choro in Schola to present a varied program of great choral music. Chris Maunu and Ethan Sperry direct the combined choirs in an event that will warm your heart as you witness the joy and beauty that these young singers bring to choral music! This concert also will feature an appearance by the award-winning Portland State University Chamber Choir under the direction of Ethan Sperry.
Tuesday, February 20, 2024 7:30pm at First United Methodist Church of Portland
Concert Admission is free and open to the public
Student Registration is $10. Directors/students can register online.
Tentative schedule:
$10 registration fee due upon check-in. We accept cash or checks made out to Choro in Schola.
CONCERT ATTIRE
Wear your concert best! For the performance we would like to see everyone in classy black. For example:
We will provide light snacks and a pizza dinner. We will do our best to accommodate some dietary restrictions, but it's recommended that students with strict dietary limitations bring their own meal. Students are encouraged to bring their water bottles.

- 3:00 - 3:30 PM: Arrive at the church and enter through the performer’s entrance (there will be signage to direct you)
- 3:30 - 5:00 PM: Rehearsal/workshop
- 5:15 - 5:45 PM: Dinner break - pizza provided
- 5:45 - 7:15 PM: Rehearsal/workshop with Choro in Schola
- 7:30 - 8:30 PM: Performance—open to the public and FREE to attend for anyone!
- Please practice the music ahead of time. (Directors with registered students have been given access to the music and practice tracks.)
- Bring your music to the event!
